In the first mode, the device divides the minute into 29 seconds and 31 seconds – during the first 29 seconds, we can drive a short distance without recording the journey. In this mode, the tachograph registers a pause instead of a journey. If, within a given minute, the journey lasts between 1 and 29 seconds and is followed by a pause, the tachograph registers the pause according to the rule of predominant activity.

In the second mode, the time is counted continuously. The illuminated red LED indicates the stop time, the green one the driving time. The countdown continues continuously – in descending order – regardless of whether the device is switched on. When the value on the display reaches zero, the green LED lights up, indicating the start of the driving time. The driver then has 58 seconds and must adhere to the speedometer timer.

The tachograph timer's beeping sound warns the driver that the time is running out. From 10 seconds to 6 seconds, it beeps every second, and from 6 seconds onward, it beeps continuously to warn the driver to stop the vehicle. It is very important to switch the tachograph to sleep mode within 29 seconds of stopping.
