Der SE5000 Smart 2 ist der intelligente Fahrtenschreiber der zweiten Generation von Stoneridge und wurde entwickelt, um die Standards des EU-Mobilitätspakets I zu erfüllen. Das Mobilitätspaket umfasst europäische Gesetze und Verordnungen für den Verkehrssektor und beinhaltet neue Bestimmungen zur Verbesserung der sozialen Bedingungen für Fahrer, zur Erhöhung der Verkehrssicherheit und zur Gewährleistung eines gleichberechtigten Zugangs zu den europäischen Märkten. Gemäß Anhang Smart II (EU 2016/799), der durch die Verordnung 2021/1228 umgesetzt wurde, ist ein technisch verbesserter Fahrtenschreiber erforderlich, um diese Standards in der Europäischen Union besser zu überwachen und durchzusetzen. Dies führte zur Einführung des Fahrtenschreibers SE5000 Smart 2 von Stoneridge Electronics.
